Gillett Square chosen by London's Mayor
|
|
Ken Livingstone Mayor of London and Lord Richard Rogers are about to
launch a programme (100 Spaces for London) to update and
create better public-spaces across London. On 11th July they will launch
ten pilot-projects. Gillett
Square has been selected to be one of the first ten.
|
 |
| Others include: Brixton Central Square, Lower
Marsh near Waterloo and Sloane Square. Groundwork Hackney have been working
with the Gillett Square Partnership which includes the "London Borough of
Hackney", Hackney Co-operative Developments
and a private developer to create a new integrated development in Dalston
which will include an exemplary public-space, a new gallery and workspace-building
and hopefully a new library in the town-centre. The project is now well-progressed
with the first phases due to start by the end of the summer.
